Choosing a ready-to-fly RC plane
Compare the aircraft’s recommended experience level, wingspan, included equipment and preparation requirements. This collection includes RTF and RTF Basic packages. Check the exact listing rather than assuming every package contains the same equipment or suits every pilot.
Does RTF include everything I need?
Read the package contents and “Needed to Complete” section. For example, the HobbyZone AeroScout S 2 1.1m RTF Basic listing includes a Spektrum DXS transmitter but requires a compatible 3S LiPo battery and charger sold separately. Other models have different requirements. Confirm the battery specification, connector and charger compatibility for your selected aircraft.
Can I fly immediately after unpacking?
Follow the model’s assembly, battery charging, radio setup and preflight instructions before flying. Ready-to-fly describes the package format; it does not replace those preparation steps. Check the transmitter mode and any items required separately before ordering.
Which plane is suitable for my experience?
Use the manufacturer’s recommended experience level and model instructions to narrow your choices. Compare the aircraft’s size, controls and any training features described for that specific model. A trainer, scale aircraft and jet can have different requirements; the RTF label alone does not establish beginner or child suitability.
What should I check before buying?
Review current availability, aircraft dimensions, included equipment and replacement-part information on the individual listing. Check the recommended operating space and conditions in the model’s instructions. If you are comparing versions of the same aircraft, confirm the exact model number and package designation.
